Motorola Edge 70 series confirmed to debut in India: Here's what to expect

Motorola has started teasing its upcoming Edge 70 series in India, showcasing three vibrant color options. Although the exact launch date remains undisclosed, rumors suggest that the devices could be unveiled around December 15. Highlighting its sleek design, Motorola is marketing the Edge 70's impressive thickness, measuring just 5.99 mm. This is particularly notable when compared to a standard pencil, which is 7 mm thick. The trend this year has leaned towards slimmer smartphones, although many of these models have struggled in the marketplace. Samsung recently introduced the Galaxy S25 Edge, while Apple launched the iPhone Air. Speculation hints that neither company may release successors to their slim models anytime soon. In a similar vein, Tecno released the Pova Slim 5G, which boasts a thickness of only 5.95 mm; however, sales figures for that device are still unknown. Having debuted in select markets in October, the Motorola Edge 70 provides a glimpse of its capabilities ahead of its anticipated launch in India. The smartphone features a 6.67-inch 1.5K pOLED display with a refresh rate of 120 Hz and an impressive peak brightness of 4,500 nits, all protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. Powering the device is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 mobile platform, coupled with options for up to 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal storage. Out of the box, it runs on Android 16. For photography enthusiasts, the Edge 70 comes equipped with a dual-camera system on the rear, highlighting a 50 MP primary sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS) and a 50 MP ultra-wide lens offering a 120-degree field of view. On the front, a 50 MP camera is available for selfies and video calls, with both front and rear cameras capable of 4K video recording at 30 fps. Additionally, the device boasts an IP68 and IP69 rating for water and dust resistance, along with military-grade durability (MIL STD 810H). It is powered by a robust 4,800 mAh battery that supports 68 W fast charging and 15 W wireless charging. The previous model, the Motorola Edge 60, was introduced at a price of ₹25,999 in India, but due to rising memory costs, the new Edge 70 may start closer to ₹30,000.
