Mobileye is entering the US robotaxi market with standalone service

Mobileye, a leading name in driving technology, has announced its ambitious plans to launch a robotaxi service in an undisclosed US city by 2027. This groundbreaking service will feature a vertically integrated model, utilizing Mobileye's Moovit mobility platform to facilitate everything from ride bookings to driver coordination. Founded by Prof. Amnon Shashua, who also serves as CEO, Mobileye has a rich history in developing technologies essential for autonomous driving, with over two decades of expertise. "Today marks a pivotal moment for us as we merge our technological advancements with operational ownership to establish a scalable robotaxi business, engineered for global reach," stated Shashua. Mobileye's journey to prominence began in the mid-2010s, particularly when Tesla incorporated its advanced driving assistance systems (ADAS) into the Autopilot feature. However, this partnership came to an end in 2016 due to concerns over how driver assistance technologies were marketed as fully autonomous. Since then, Mobileye has continued to forge partnerships and innovate in the realms of ADAS and autonomous vehicles, with plans to roll out approximately 100 robotaxis early next year, setting the stage for a competitive entry into the robotaxi market.
