Dedicated mobile apps for vibe coding have so far failed to gain traction

Despite the rise of numerous vibe coding startups achieving unicorn status, the mobile app sector for AI-assisted coding has yet to capture significant attention. A recent analysis by Appfigures reveals that, among the available mobile applications, only a select few have garnered substantial downloads and revenue. The leading app in this category, Instance: AI App Builder, has achieved a mere 16,000 downloads, translating to just $1,000 in consumer spending. Meanwhile, Vibe Studio, another contender, has only attracted 4,000 downloads without generating any income. The landscape may evolve, however, as the market remains nascent and mobile vibe coding applications continue to enhance their offerings. New entrants like Vibecode, which launched this year with $9.4 million in seed funding from Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian’s Seven Seven Six, are aiming to change the game. Vibecode enables users to develop mobile apps using AI through its own iOS application, although it is too early to gauge its impact as Appfigures has yet to track its performance. At present, many individuals interested in vibe coding are utilizing desktop platforms. However, vibe coding does have a footprint in mobile applications as it supports an increasing number of existing apps. RevenueCat, a subscription platform utilized by over 50,000 apps, reports that it manages in-app purchases for over half of all AI-generated iOS apps on the market. In the second quarter of this year, the proportion of apps seeking monetization through AI assistants surged to over 35%, a significant rise from under 5% in the same period last year. While there is a palpable interest in vibe coding, experts suggest that the technology is not yet fully ready for widespread adoption. Developers engaged with AI-generated code indicate that there are still considerable challenges to overcome. A survey from Fastly highlighted that around 95% of nearly 800 developers reported needing extra time to fix AI-generated code. Nevertheless, the demand for these tools is clear. A 2025 Stack Overflow survey found that 84% of respondents are either using or planning to adopt AI tools in their development processes, an increase from 76% the previous year. Meanwhile, another survey by The Information indicated that 75% of respondents have at least experimented with vibe coding, and a study by Jellyfish reported that 90% have integrated AI into their workflows, up from 61% last year, as noted by Business Insider.
