Is Minecraft Bedrock Realms down? Thousands report issues - What we know so far

On Saturday, a significant service disruption hit Minecraft Bedrock Realms, leaving countless players unable to access their worlds for several hours. A surge of reports on social media and outage tracking platforms indicated that many users experienced persistent loading issues, preventing them from connecting to servers or entering gameplay as expected. According to data from outage monitoring site DownDetector, the problems began escalating around noon EDT, with complaints swelling to over 4,000 at the peak. The majority of these issues were related to server connectivity, indicating a potential backend failure rather than individual user errors. Notably, 93% of those affected in the United States reported issues with server connections, while a smaller fraction—5%—reported difficulties launching the game, and 2% faced login problems. The outage primarily impacted players of the Minecraft Bedrock Edition who utilize Realms for private multiplayer sessions. Major cities such as Los Angeles, Houston, Tampa, Chicago, and Minneapolis were highlighted as the areas most affected during this disruption. As of this writing, neither Mojang nor Microsoft has provided a detailed explanation for the outage, leaving players uncertain about the duration of the service disruption. Minecraft Bedrock Realms offers players the ability to host always-online multiplayer worlds across different platforms, making these outages particularly challenging for those who rely on the service for cooperative gameplay. Minecraft, a sandbox-style game developed by Mojang Studios and launched in 2011, allows players to create and explore expansive three-dimensional worlds made from block-like elements. Users can construct anything from simple homes to intricate farms and vast cities using these digital blocks. In 2014, Microsoft acquired Mojang for $2.5 billion, shortly after the company chose Amazon Web Services to power Minecraft Realms, as reported earlier by CNBC.
