Rivian spinoff Mind Robotics raises another $400M

Mind Robotics, a spinoff from Rivian, has successfully secured an additional $400 million in funding, a mere two months after its previous $500 million round. This latest investment is aimed at enhancing the development of industrial robotics intended to automate factory processes more efficiently. The funding round, which was first highlighted by the Wall Street Journal, saw major contributions from prominent investors, including Kleiner Perkins. Additionally, the venture capital arms of Volkswagen—Rivian's partner in a software collaboration—and Salesforce also played key roles in this investment. RJ Scaringe, Rivian's CEO and the chairman of Mind Robotics, expressed his vision for the company back in March. He established Mind Robotics to address a gap he perceived in existing startups that were not adequately prepared to tackle industrial automation challenges. Initially dubbed “Project Synapse,” the venture aims to create robots equipped with human-like capabilities. Since its inception in 2025, Mind Robotics has garnered significant financial backing, having raised $115 million from Eclipse prior to this latest round. With the recent funding, the total capital raised by the company exceeds $1 billion, placing its valuation at over $3 billion, as reported by the Wall Street Journal. In addition, Scaringe has also been instrumental in launching a micromobility startup named Also, which has raised upwards of $300 million so far.
