An internal organizational chart from Microsoft has unveiled the key executives selected by Jay Parikh to spearhead the new CoreAI division. Appointed by CEO Satya Nadella in January, Parikh aims to drive Microsoft's efforts in developing AI agents that can effectively collaborate with human workers. The recently disclosed chart, examined by Business Insider, highlights a team composed largely of former Meta executives who previously worked alongside Parikh during his tenure as head of engineering at the tech giant. A Microsoft representative verified the authenticity of the org chart, noting that some of these executives were recruited prior to Parikh's arrival. Among the prominent figures is Asha Sharma, who oversees product development for Microsoft's AI platform and leads a team of nearly 400. Sharma, formerly the chief operating officer at Instacart, shares a history with Parikh from her time at Meta. Eric Boyd, another seasoned professional, has been involved in AI initiatives at Microsoft for over a decade. His team, which now counts more than 2,200 members, was integrated into Parikh's organization at its inception. Concerns had previously been raised by some within the company about the direction of the team, with fears it was becoming merely an "IT for OpenAI". Julia Liuson, who manages the largest segment of the CoreAI division, oversees around 7,000 of the roughly 10,000 employees in the organization. With over 33 years at Microsoft, Liuson leads the development of tools and services for developers. Caitie McCaffrey, formerly a technical adviser to Nadella, now reports directly to Parikh as an engineer responsible for critical technical initiatives that enhance security and productivity. Jason Taylor, Microsoft's deputy chief technology officer, also has a history with Parikh at Meta and leads a small team of about eight. Michael Kirkland, who was recently appointed as the vice president of engagement, joins the team with a background in technology communications at Meta. Lastly, Tim Bozarth, who heads the EngThrive initiative aimed at improving engineering efficiency, joined Microsoft from Google in 2022 and manages a team of several dozen. This strategic alignment of leaders from Meta reflects Microsoft's commitment to establishing a robust AI framework under the CoreAI brand, signaling a pivotal shift in their approach to artificial intelligence development.
