Leaked Microsoft org chart reveals the top people in Mustafa Suleyman's AI team, including five ex-Googler hires

Recent internal organizational charts reveal significant changes within Microsoft’s AI division, led by Mustafa Suleyman, who has welcomed nine new direct reports in the past year. Notably, five of these individuals are former employees from Google and DeepMind, highlighting the competitive landscape for AI talent in the tech industry. Since being appointed as CEO of Microsoft's AI unit last year, Suleyman has been strategically building a team that oversees key consumer AI products, including the Copilot chatbot and the Bing search engine. The latest updates to the organizational structure show a total of 17 direct reports: nine new additions and four departures. Amar Subramanya, who joined Microsoft in July, was previously the VP of engineering for Google's generative AI product, Gemini. He expressed his excitement about the culture at Microsoft, describing it as a blend of ambition and collaboration reminiscent of a startup. Dominic King, now the VP of Microsoft AI Health, brings experience from DeepMind and UnitedHealth Group. He emphasizes the imperative role AI can play in improving healthcare outcomes. Jacob Andreou, who has a background in product management at Snap, is spearheading the development of Copilot's new AI character. Other notable hires include Mark D'Arcy, who previously served as chief creative officer at Meta, and Meghan Perez, a long-serving Microsoft executive now focusing on the Edge browser. Additionally, Umesh Shankar has been brought on to lead privacy and security initiatives within the AI team. The expansion reflects Microsoft’s aggressive recruitment efforts to stay competitive in the fast-evolving AI landscape, with a dedicated team focused on attracting top talent from rival companies. Suleyman’s vision for the division continues to take shape as it evolves to meet the growing demands for innovative AI solutions.
