During his ongoing three-day tour of India, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella made a pivotal announcement in Bangalore on December 11. He revealed a strategic alliance with leading IT firms including Cognizant, Infosys, TCS, and Wipro, aimed at enhancing the adoption of agentic AI technologies. This collaboration marks one of the largest corporate AI rollouts to date, with Microsoft set to introduce 200,000 Microsoft Copilot licenses across its suite of products, including Office. This initiative is designed to empower employees, enabling them to work more efficiently and effectively. Nadella emphasized that the integration of Microsoft Copilot into essential business functions would lead to significant improvements in productivity, innovation, and customer engagement. He stated, "Greater AI integration will not only enhance employee efficiency but will also drive overall business growth." Puneet Chandok, President of Microsoft India & South Asia, praised the partner companies for not merely adopting AI but for leading the way on a global scale. He noted that these organizations are transitioning from initial experimentation to comprehensive deployment, embedding Microsoft Copilot into their daily operations. This announcement follows Microsoft's commitment to invest $17.5 billion in India over the next four years, aimed at developing the nation’s cloud and AI infrastructure. Nadella also highlighted various innovative applications of agentic AI in India, showcasing projects from Cognizant, Wipro, and Swiggy. His tour will conclude in Mumbai on December 12, where he is scheduled to engage with prominent business and technology leaders.
