Microsoft hit with Azure, 365 outage ahead of quarterly earnings report

On Wednesday, Microsoft experienced significant outages in its Azure cloud services and Microsoft 365 applications just hours before the company's anticipated earnings announcement. Users took to social media to report difficulties accessing various sites and services powered by Microsoft's technology, with many noting that the company's official website was also down. The disruptions reportedly began around 11:40 a.m. ET, as indicated by Downdetector, a platform that tracks user-reported issues. Microsoft confirmed the situation through its Azure and 365 support channels on X, stating, "We're investigating an issue impacting Azure Front Door services." The company cautioned that customers might encounter intermittent request failures or increased latency, promising updates shortly. On Azure’s status page, the company acknowledged that users might face challenges when trying to access the portal. Similarly, the Microsoft 365 status account informed users, "We're investigating reports of issues accessing Microsoft 365 services and the Microsoft 365 admin center." This incident comes just days after Amazon Web Services, a significant competitor, reported a major outage affecting numerous high-profile websites.
