In a bid to tackle persistent performance issues in Windows 11, Microsoft has unveiled a new feature aimed at collecting diagnostic data from users who encounter sluggishness or unresponsiveness. According to reports from The Verge, this initiative was included in a recent Windows 11 Insider test build released last week. The newly implemented automatic logging system allows Windows Insiders to send real-time performance logs through the Feedback Hub whenever they experience lag on their devices. Microsoft emphasized the importance of user feedback, stating, "Windows Insiders are encouraged to provide feedback when experiencing PC issues related to slow or sluggish performance, allowing Feedback Hub to automatically collect these logs, which will help us root cause issues faster." This move aligns with Microsoft’s ongoing commitment to enhance the performance and reliability of its operating system. As users continue to report varied performance levels across different hardware setups since the OS's launch in October 2021, complaints have surfaced about lackluster gaming performance on modern processors and a general feeling that Windows 11 is slower than its predecessor, Windows 10. While Microsoft has previously introduced various improvements, such as optimizations in the Taskbar, notification area, and quick settings, this latest feature indicates a more proactive strategy. The enhancements in the 24H2 release have reportedly improved performance on older devices, and the upcoming 25H2 update is expected to further this progress. Additionally, Microsoft is raising its standards for driver development, now requiring developers to conduct static analysis on drivers prior to certification. This step aims to identify potential flaws in driver code early in the deployment process. By streamlining performance monitoring and addressing key system interactions, Microsoft aims to alleviate user concerns and ensure a more cohesive experience with Windows 11.
