Threads is testing spoiler text, Zuckerberg says

Meta's microblogging service, Threads, is currently trialing a new feature that allows users to mark content as spoiler text, as revealed by CEO Mark Zuckerberg. This functionality enables words or images to be obscured in a post, requiring users to click on them to view the hidden content. Spoiler text is commonly utilized on platforms such as Discord and Reddit, facilitating discussions about recent movies, television series, or books without unintentionally disclosing significant plot details to those who have not yet caught up. This enhancement not only improves user experience but also promotes more lively discussions around pop culture on the platform, reducing the fear of ruining surprises for others. According to Meta, popular series like 'The Last of Us' and 'The White Lotus' frequently trended on Threads during their airing periods, highlighting the app's growing demographic of entertainment fans. In addition to its primary purpose, the spoiler feature can also serve to obscure content that may not be offensive but could still be unsettling for some users. Currently, this feature is in the testing phase and isn't available to all users just yet. For those who do have access, they can easily mark text or images as spoilers by highlighting the desired content before posting and selecting the “mark spoiler” option from the menu.
