So, we’re getting Prada Meta AI glasses, right?

Speculation is swirling that Meta may be gearing up to unveil Prada-branded AI glasses. This buzz intensified after Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla, were seen attending Prada’s Fall/Winter 2026 Fashion Week show in Milan. Observers noted Zuckerberg engaging in conversation with Lorenzo Bertelli, the Chief Merchandising Officer of Prada and son of the renowned designer Miuccia Prada. Zuckerberg's appearance at the fashion event is seen as potentially more than a mere interest in style. Reports from CNBC last summer hinted at the development of Prada AI glasses, among other collaborations, although Meta has yet to officially confirm such a partnership. As of now, there has been no response from the company regarding Zuckerberg's visit to Milan. The collaboration would align with the ongoing relationship between Meta and EssilorLuxottica, the eyewear conglomerate known for its Ray-Ban brand. Since the introduction of Ray-Ban Stories, the two companies have been working closely together on innovative eyewear. Just recently, EssilorLuxottica announced impressive sales figures, revealing that over 7 million AI glasses were sold in 2025, a significant increase from 2 million the previous year. This impressive growth includes both the Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta lines, with Oakley aimed at a more athletic demographic. The potential introduction of Prada AI glasses could allow Meta to penetrate the high-fashion sector, a market segment currently untouched by its existing offerings like Oakleys and Ray-Bans. Establishing these glasses as a luxury item could enhance Meta’s overall brand image. However, there are growing concerns regarding consumer resistance to surveillance technology. Recent trends show a backlash against devices perceived as invasive, leading to people removing their Ring doorbells and destroying Flock cameras. This backlash raises questions about whether Meta will incorporate facial recognition capabilities into its forthcoming glasses, as highlighted by recent reports from The New York Times. Such features have already drawn criticism and could jeopardize what has otherwise been a promising tech product. In fact, one developer has even created an app designed to alert users if someone nearby is wearing AI glasses, reflecting the heightened sensitivity around privacy issues.
