Meta is embarking on an innovative journey with the development of an AI-powered pendant, slated for testing in the upcoming year. This initiative stems from a memo obtained by The Information, indicating that the device aims to enhance user interaction through artificial intelligence. The new pendant is expected to leverage technology from Limitless, an AI startup acquired by Meta in late 2025. Limitless previously created an AI wearable that could be attached to clothing or worn as a necklace, enabling users to record conversations seamlessly. Meta's acquisition was aimed at accelerating its efforts in creating AI-enabled wearables, signaling a significant shift in their product strategy. Despite the challenges faced by previous AI wearables—ranging from privacy issues to inadequate marketing—Meta appears undeterred. The company is also reportedly planning to broaden its portfolio with AI glasses and introduce a business subscription service dubbed Wearables for Work.
