Alexandr Wang, Meta's chief AI officer, has shared inspiring guidance for teenagers aspiring to shape their futures. At just 28 years old, Wang has made significant strides in the AI sector, previously leading Scale AI before Meta acquired a substantial stake in the company. During an appearance on the TBPN podcast, Wang emphasized the importance for today's 13-year-olds to emulate tech pioneers like Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg. He suggested that mastering new technologies now could provide them with a considerable advantage in the evolving job market. "This moment is reminiscent of the early days of personal computers; those who engaged with technology during its formative years gained immense benefits later on. I believe we are experiencing a similar shift today," Wang stated. Wang encouraged young individuals to dedicate their time to coding, stating, "If you’re around 13, immerse yourself in coding; that’s how you should approach your life. Spending 10,000 hours mastering these tools can set you apart in the future economy." He introduced the concept of 'vibe coding', which refers to using natural-language prompts to develop software with the help of AI. This innovative approach, coined by OpenAI co-founder Andrej Karpathy, allows developers to focus on creativity and ideas rather than traditional coding techniques. Wang's success story is remarkable; he became the youngest self-made billionaire at 25 by harnessing AI's potential with Scale AI, which he founded at 19. Earlier this year, Meta's significant investment of $14.3 billion in Scale AI elevated its valuation to over $29 billion, showcasing the transformative power of AI in business today.
