Meta launches two new Ray-Ban glasses designed for prescription wearers

Meta has officially announced the release of two new styles of Ray-Ban smart glasses specifically designed for individuals who require prescription lenses. While the company has previously offered glasses compatible with prescription wearers, this latest iteration aims to accommodate nearly all types of prescriptions, ensuring comfort for those who wear glasses throughout the day. Starting at $499, these innovative glasses will be available at various optical retailers across the United States and select international markets beginning April 14. Customers can choose from two distinct styles: the Blayzer, featuring a rectangular shape available in both Standard and Large sizes, and the Scriber, which boasts a more rounded design. The new models prioritize user comfort, being touted as the most comfortable glasses created by Meta to date. They are engineered for all-day wear and include personalized fitting options such as flexible hinges, interchangeable nose pads, and adjustable temple tips that can be tailored by opticians to fit individual face shapes. In addition to the new frames, Meta is expanding its color palette and lens options for both Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta frames. Notable new colors include Shiny Transparent Peach and Matte Transparent Peach for Ray-Ban, while Oakley Meta Vanguard will feature options like Vanguard Black and Vanguard White, each paired with innovative lens technologies. Meta is also enhancing the functionality of its smart glasses with new AI-driven features. Users will find it easier to track nutrition by simply using voice commands or taking quick photos of their meals to log them hands-free. The AI system will analyze key nutritional information and provide personalized insights over time to promote healthier eating habits. Moreover, hands-free WhatsApp message summaries are being introduced through Meta's Early Access Program. Users can request updates on group chats or specific messages by asking their smart glasses, with interactions processed securely on-device to ensure user privacy. Additionally, the Neural Handwriting feature will soon allow users to reply to messages discreetly by writing on any surface, compatible with various messaging platforms.
