In a bold move to advance its artificial intelligence initiatives, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced a significant restructuring of the company’s AI operations. The newly formed entity, named Meta Superintelligence Labs, will unify all AI teams under one umbrella, as revealed in an internal memo reported by Bloomberg. Leading the charge as chief AI officer will be Alexandr Wang, who previously served as CEO of the data labeling company Scale AI. He will work alongside Nat Friedman, the former head of GitHub, who is set to manage Meta’s AI products and applied research. Zuckerberg's strategy aims to position Meta at the forefront of the race toward artificial general intelligence (AGI). To bolster this initiative, the company has made substantial investments, including a notable $14.3 billion in Scale AI, which coincided with Wang’s appointment. Furthermore, Meta has successfully recruited 11 AI researchers from rival firms, enhancing its talent pool with notable additions such as Pei Sun from Google DeepMind and Joel Pobar from Anthropic, according to the report.
