Meta's new AI-powered editing app can turn your videos into comics, games, 50+ video styles

Meta has introduced an exciting new generative AI video editing application aimed at making short-form video creation accessible to users across all skill levels. This feature is now available through the Meta AI app, on the Meta.AI website, and within the Edits app, providing users with a vast array of preset prompts to creatively enhance their videos without needing any prior editing experience. Currently, this tool is available in the United States and select regions, allowing users to edit videos of up to 10 seconds in length at no cost for a limited period. The application enables users to modify various elements of their videos, including outfits, backgrounds, and the overall mood. For example, a straightforward selfie can be reimagined as a retro comic book panel, while a dark city scene can be transformed into a whimsical setting filled with sparkles, or a casual moment can morph into a vibrant video game scene complete with neon effects and dramatic lighting. Users can select from over 50 preset prompts created in collaboration with content creators, ensuring a diverse range of styles. Edited videos can be easily shared on popular platforms like Facebook and Instagram, or through the Discover feed on the Meta AI app and website. This feature builds upon Meta's extensive research in AI and generative video technology, leveraging insights from its Movie Gen models and previous projects like Make-A-Scene and Llama-based diffusion systems. Although the initial launch supports only preset themes, Meta plans to roll out custom text prompt functionality later this year, which will allow for even more personalized video edits. The company's goal is to democratize high-quality video editing, catering to both casual users eager to enhance personal clips and creators seeking fresh visual styles to captivate their audiences. This launch marks a significant step for Meta into the realm of AI-driven video editing, with additional features expected to be introduced in the coming months.
