Meta has announced a halt to its plans for the international rollout of its Ray-Ban smart glasses, attributing this decision to an overwhelming demand coupled with limited supply. Initially, the company aimed to release the glasses in several countries, including France, Italy, Canada, and the U.K., by early 2026. Since their debut last fall, the glasses have garnered significant attention, resulting in waitlists that stretch far into 2026. In light of these circumstances, Meta has opted to focus on fulfilling existing orders within the U.S. while reassessing its strategy for international distribution. The Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses, which were revealed in September, are designed to be operated via a wristband known as the Meta Neural Band. This innovative accessory recognizes subtle hand gestures for enhanced user interaction. At the recent CES event in Las Vegas, Meta showcased exciting new features for both the glasses and the Neural Band. Among the updates is a teleprompter function, enabling users to present prepared remarks seamlessly. Additionally, the Meta Neural Band now allows users to write messages on any surface using their fingers, which are then converted into digital text. Furthermore, Meta is expanding its pedestrian navigation capabilities to include cities like Denver, Las Vegas, Portland, and Salt Lake City.
