Mazda is gearing up to introduce the latest version of its well-loved CX-5 SUV. The Japanese car manufacturer disclosed that the third-generation CX-5 will be available for purchase in Europe later this year, with a North American release scheduled for 2026. Since its debut in 2017, the CX-5 has been a pivotal model for Mazda, reflecting the brand's transition towards a more upscale market segment. The SUV is celebrated for its stylish interiors and agile handling, all while maintaining competitive pricing that rivals luxury brands. Mazda continues to adhere to its foundational philosophy known as "Jinba Ittai," which emphasizes the unity between horse and rider—symbolizing a harmonious relationship between car and driver. While the CX-5 has garnered a loyal fan base, many enthusiasts have noted that the current engine options often fall short in fuel efficiency. Previously, Mazda attempted to enhance its fleet's efficiency with a new diesel engine, but this option was phased out due to a lack of consumer interest. Additionally, there were high hopes for the innovative "Skyactiv-X" compression ignition engine, which was designed to deliver diesel-like efficiency using standard gasoline. Unfortunately, the likelihood of this engine being offered in the US market appears increasingly slim.
