Many iPhone users are puzzled by the rapid depletion of their device's battery life. While factors like screen brightness and 5G connectivity often come to mind as primary reasons, the true culprits may be lurking within the user’s settings. Certain features, especially those found in backgrounds and accessibility options, can unwittingly drain power throughout the day. One significant contributor to battery drain is the Background App Refresh feature. This setting allows applications to update their content even when you're not actively using them. While it may seem beneficial, it causes your device to work continuously in the background. To disable this feature, navigate to Settings, tap on General, and then select Background App Refresh to turn it off. Alternatively, you can disable it for specific applications that do not require constant updates. Users often report a noticeable improvement in battery longevity once this setting is adjusted. Additionally, two options under the Accessibility menu can also consume unnecessary battery life. The Auto-Brightness feature automatically adjusts your screen's brightness based on ambient light, which keeps sensors activated throughout the day. To turn this off, go to Settings, then Accessibility, and select Display & Text Size to disable Auto-Brightness. You can still manually adjust the brightness using the Control Center when needed. Another modification involves enabling the Reduce Motion feature under Accessibility → Motion. This setting minimizes animations and visual effects, reducing the graphical workload on your device and conserving battery power. Lastly, if your iPhone lights up every time you lift it, that's the Raise to Wake function in action. Although convenient, this feature can lead to significant energy loss. You can deactivate it by going to Settings and selecting Display & Brightness, then turning off Raise to Wake. This way, your screen will remain off until you either tap it or press the side button, preventing unnecessary activations. By pinpointing the settings that contribute to battery drain and making these adjustments, you can significantly enhance your iPhone's performance. These simple changes not only extend battery life but also help your device operate more efficiently and smoothly throughout the day.
