Oura, Maven Clinic team up to bring biometric data into clinical care

Maven Clinic, a leading platform for women’s and family health, has announced a partnership with Oura, the makers of the popular smart ring. This collaboration marks a significant advancement in how biometric data from wearables can be utilized within clinical care settings. Through this partnership, eligible members of Maven will have the ability to synchronize data collected by their Oura Ring with the Maven platform. This integration allows healthcare professionals at Maven to analyze vital metrics such as sleep patterns, stress levels, and physical activity, enhancing the health guidance provided to members. Maven Clinic is recognized as a three-time entrant on the CNBC Disruptor 50 list and stands as the largest virtual clinic focused on women's and family health. The platform has garnered the trust of over 2,000 employers and health plans and recently secured $125 million in funding, valuing the company at $1.7 billion as of October 2024. Their services encompass a wide range of areas including fertility, maternity, newborn care, and menopause. Kate Ryder, CEO and founder of Maven Clinic, emphasized the current shift in consumer health, driven by the wealth of data from wearable technologies. A recent survey indicated that nearly 75% of Maven members are regularly using devices to monitor their health. This trend has led consumers to seek ways to take control of their health by leveraging the tools available to them. The partnership with Oura, also a three-time Disruptor 50 company, aims to bridge the gap between technology and healthcare. Oura’s focus has evolved from solely tracking sleep and recovery to addressing broader health issues, with an emphasis on personalized insights for users. Tom Hale, CEO of Oura, articulated the vision of having a 'doctor in your pocket,' suggesting that the Oura Ring will provide comprehensive health metrics, especially tailored for women's health, including menstrual and pregnancy cycle tracking. Oura’s Chief Commercial Officer, Dorothy Kilroy, highlighted the need for better personalization in healthcare, particularly for women, who have often been overlooked in health research. The collaboration seeks to deliver smart, connected care that integrates seamlessly into users' lives, aiming to improve health outcomes through proactive engagement and expert medical advice. For instance, pregnant members diagnosed with gestational diabetes could work with Maven's nutritionists while utilizing Oura's tracking features to manage their glucose levels effectively. As Maven Clinic prepares to incorporate Oura’s data into its services by late summer, members will also enjoy exclusive pricing on the Oura Ring. Ryder concluded by stressing the importance of shifting the healthcare system towards preventive measures and investing more in wellness, foreseeing that this partnership will lead to innovative solutions and improved health outcomes for users.
