Review:Fantastic Four: First Stepsis the best film version so far

Marvel Studios has officially launched Phase Six of its cinematic universe with the debut of *The Fantastic Four: First Steps*, and the film is receiving praise from critics and audiences alike, while making a strong impression at the box office. The ensemble cast delivers outstanding performances, and the film's production design is nothing short of spectacular, reminiscent of Disney's Tomorrowland in its vibrant 1960s retro-futuristic style. Viewers are encouraged to sit back and enjoy the experience, even if the plot veers into the nonsensical. Directed by Matt Shakman, known for *WandaVision*, the film cleverly sidesteps the typical origin story. Instead, the Fantastic Four’s backstory is conveyed through quick flashbacks, showcasing their rise to fame as celebrities on a popular talk show hosted by Ted Gilbert, played by Mark Gatiss. The dynamic duo, Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal) and Sue Storm (Vanessa Kirby), are also expecting their first child, much to the delight of their teammates, Johnny Storm (Joseph Quinn) and Ben Grimm (Ebon Moss-Bachrach). However, their bright future on Earth-828 is soon overshadowed by the ominous arrival of the Silver Surfer (Julia Garner), signaling the impending threat of Galactus, a colossal cosmic entity known for consuming entire planets. With Earth in jeopardy, the Fantastic Four embark on a space mission to confront Galactus and plead for the planet's survival. The film sets the stage for an epic confrontation with an almost godlike adversary, raising the question of how the Four will leverage their formidable abilities to triumph. While this adaptation may be the best yet for the Fantastic Four, it's worth noting that previous film iterations have set a low standard. Despite the success of the 2005 *Fantastic Four*, the 2015 reboot was widely considered a failure, leading to its planned sequel being scrapped. Following Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox in 2019, Marvel Studios has embarked on a fresh journey with this iconic franchise.
