Marvel gets meta withWonder Manteaser

Marvel Studios has officially revealed the inaugural teaser for its upcoming miniseries, Wonder Man, which is set to premiere in January. This eight-episode series is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Phase Six and has been in the works since 2022. Destin Daniel Cretton, known for his work on Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, teams up with Andrew Guest from Hawkeye, who will act as the showrunner. The storyline of Wonder Man centers on Simon Williams, the titular character, who is portrayed by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. In the comics, Simon is the son of a wealthy industrialist and inherits a family business that struggles to compete with Stark Industries. His journey takes a dramatic turn when Baron Zemo, a character from Falcon and the Winter Soldier, recruits him to infiltrate the Avengers by offering him superpowers through a special serum. Eventually, Simon transforms into a superhero and becomes a vital ally to the Avengers, facing formidable foes like Doctor Doom. With Doctor Doom poised to be the central antagonist in the upcoming Avengers films, the timing of the Wonder Man miniseries is particularly strategic. In this adaptation, Simon Williams is depicted as an actor and stuntman who possesses actual superpowers and decides to audition for a leading role in a reboot of a superhero television series featuring Wonder Man. The cast also includes Demetrius Grosse as Simon's brother Eric, aka Grim Reaper, alongside Ed Harris as Simon's agent, Neal Saroyan, and Arian Moayed as a character linked to the Department of Damage Control. Additionally, Lauren Glazier, Josh Gad, Byron Bowers, Bechir Sylvain, and Manny McCord will feature in undisclosed roles, hinting at exciting developments to come.
