Marvel rings in new year withWonder Mantrailer

As the new year kicks off, Marvel Studios has unveiled an exciting trailer for its upcoming miniseries, 'Wonder Man,' set to debut later this month on Disney+. This eight-episode series is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Phase Six and is crafted by the talented team of Destin Daniel Cretton, known for 'Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,' and Andrew Guest, who previously worked on 'Hawkeye.' Guest will also serve as the showrunner. The series stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in the title role of Simon Williams, also known as Wonder Man. Simon is an actor and stunt performer with genuine superpowers who aspires to land a leading role in a superhero TV show, a reboot of an earlier Wonder Man series. The cast includes Demetrius Grosse as Simon’s brother, Eric, the Grim Reaper, and Ed Harris, who plays Simon’s agent, Neal Saroyan. Additionally, Arian Moayed portrays P, an agent from the Department of Damage Control. Joining this stellar lineup are Lauren Glazier, Josh Gad, Byron Bowers, Bechir Sylvain, and Manny McCord, who will take on yet-to-be-revealed roles. Notably, Ben Kingsley returns to reprise his role as Trevor Slattery, a character first introduced in 'Iron Man 3.' Slattery, who was previously hired by the film's antagonist to impersonate a terrorist leader, appears once again in 'Wonder Man,' following his redemption arc in 'Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.' The initial one-minute teaser, which premiered just before New York Comic Con last fall, showcased the series' meta-humor, while the full trailer highlighted Simon's journey as he prepares for his dream audition. In the latest trailer, viewers see Simon being asked to sign a form declaring he lacks superpowers, a declaration that is quite ironic given that he possesses them. The stress of the audition process brings Simon’s abilities to the surface, prompting the Department of Damage Control to label him as an 'extraordinary threat.' 'Wonder Man' is set to premiere on Disney+ on January 27, 2026.
