Cramer’s week ahead: Stocks face pressure from rates, oil, and a flood of new offerings

In a cautionary message delivered on Friday, CNBC's Jim Cramer warned that the financial markets are facing significant challenges in the upcoming week due to a trio of factors: rising interest rates, high oil prices, and a surge of new stock offerings. Cramer, the host of "Mad Money," emphasized that the current market dynamics are heavily influenced by these elements, stating, "You're looking at a market that's hostage to interest rates and high oil, coupled with a monster amount of new stock coming through the pipeline that can't be bought unless investors sell something else." The three major stock indexes experienced declines following a stronger-than-anticipated jobs report, which resulted in increased Treasury yields and dampened expectations for imminent rate cuts. Investors are also contending with the implications of substantial capital raises in the artificial intelligence sector, particularly the eagerly awaited SpaceX offering. "Today was the day when people started raising the money...to participate in the upcoming mega IPOs," Cramer remarked. Looking ahead, Cramer highlighted key earnings reports and events to watch. The Apple Worldwide Developers Conference is set to commence, amid ongoing speculation regarding the company's approach to AI. Cramer noted that Apple's cautious investment in AI infrastructure appears increasingly prudent, stating, "It's a big reason why the stock's been flying while the buyers of big tech are getting crushed." Additionally, Cramer pointed out that the packaged-food industry, represented by Campbell's upcoming report, is struggling under pressure from sluggish growth, new GLP-1 drugs, and limited pricing flexibility. Vail Resorts will also be reporting after market close, with Cramer expressing concerns about whether consumers will continue to spend on vacations amidst rising gasoline prices. Cracker Barrel is set to report as well; while the stock has gained this year, it remains below previous highs. Cramer expressed interest in the stock but noted that earnings growth is a crucial factor to consider. In the morning, Chewy's results will shed light on consumer spending trends in the pet sector following a disappointing quarter from Petco. Oracle, reporting after the bell, is expected to provide insights into AI infrastructure spending, having been an early player in the data center market. Meanwhile, Adobe continues to face pressure from more affordable AI-driven alternatives, with Cramer suggesting the stock still isn't at an attractive price point. Finally, as SpaceX prepares for its Nasdaq debut on June 12, Cramer voiced hope that investors will complete their fundraising efforts soon, allowing the market to regain momentum. "Let's get this over with, so this market can resume its advance," he urged, emphasizing that the current selling of existing holdings to accommodate new offerings could hinder stock growth.
