The Dow's win streak, Macy's earnings and more: Morning Squawk

In today's financial landscape, stock futures are showing a mixed response following a cautiously optimistic trading session yesterday. The S&P 500 has achieved a remarkable milestone, closing at an all-time high for the sixth consecutive day with its value surpassing 7,600 for the first time. Meanwhile, the Dow Jones Industrial Average also marked a significant achievement, recording its fifth consecutive winning day this year. In a recent podcast interview, President Donald Trump made headlines by stating that Iran has "already agreed" to refrain from pursuing nuclear weapons, although he acknowledged the possibility of a change in their stance. His remarks come amidst reports from Iranian media indicating a halt in negotiations with U.S. representatives. However, both Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio dismissed these reports, characterizing them as "Fake News" and affirming that discussions are ongoing. In another major development, Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Bill Pulte has been appointed as the acting director of national intelligence, succeeding Tulsi Gabbard. This decision has sparked criticism from both Democrats and some Republicans, particularly due to Pulte's lack of intelligence experience and his previous allegations against political adversaries of Trump. Analysts are concerned that his appointment could politicize the intelligence community and adversely affect national security efforts. On the retail front, Macy's shares surged nearly 3% before market opening after the company reported its best first-quarter comparable sales in four years. CEO Tony Spring attributed this success to stronger-than-expected sales and profitability, prompting an upward revision of the company’s annual forecast. Similarly, beauty retailer Ulta exceeded expectations for its first quarter and raised its earnings guidance, with fragrances now constituting a significant portion of its revenue. In the realm of artificial intelligence, President Trump signed an executive order calling for AI companies to provide the federal government with access to their models prior to public release. This directive, aimed at evaluating AI capabilities, is voluntary and comes as AI firms rapidly advance their developments and prepare for public market entries. Additionally, Anthropic announced an expansion of access to its Mythos model for 150 partners across more than 15 countries, contingent upon meeting certain security requirements. Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon remarked on the current market sentiment, stating that there is "more greed than there is fear" as AI companies gear up for public offerings.
