Mark Cuban is having 'a blast' on Sora as users generate viral videos of him

Billionaire entrepreneur Mark Cuban is reveling in the viral success of AI-generated videos featuring his likeness on the innovative platform Sora. Recently, the former 'Shark Tank' judge enthusiastically invited users to create content using his image, stating that he is having a "blast" with the experience. Within just 24 hours, Cuban's face began to dominate Sora and social media platform X, making him one of the first prominent figures to openly participate in OpenAI's creative experiment. However, there's a unique twist—any video using Cuban's likeness also serves as an advertisement for his company, Cost Plus Drugs. Cuban shared his excitement about the project, saying, "I was just curious what people would come up with, and I wanted to experiment with the plug for costplusdrugs.com. So far it's worked out great." Sora 2, the social media platform powered by OpenAI, currently operates on an invitation-only basis and is accessible only in the U.S. and Canada. Users can allow friends or other participants to create videos using their Cameo or likeness. In one clip, Cuban sports a bright yellow cardigan and delivers catchy lines about Cost Plus Drugs from what appears to be a kindergarten classroom, all set to cheerful music. Other videos showcase him vacationing in Madrid and performing as a pop star, with the tagline "Brought to you by Cost Plus Drugs" prominently displayed at the end. Cuban has been actively sharing these AI-generated deepfakes on X, where each video is accumulating tens of thousands of views. He praised Sora for effectively filtering out inappropriate content, enhancing the overall experience. Both Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, and Bill Peebles, head of Sora, acknowledged Cuban's marketing strategy during a recent podcast. Altman noted the emergence of new dynamics in video content, emphasizing that this period is exciting due to the rapid changes in technology and creativity. As Cuban continues to explore this new frontier, the intersection of AI and advertising is set to evolve in fascinating ways.
