After wolf escaped zoo, man arrested for creating fake AI sighting “for fun”

A 40-year-old individual has been taken into custody after he allegedly used artificial intelligence to fabricate an image of a runaway wolf, which authorities in South Korea stated impeded critical rescue operations. The incident unfolded when Neukgu, a two-year-old wolf, escaped from a zoo in Daejeon city, prompting an urgent and extensive search to locate him. This wolf is part of a long-term conservation effort aimed at reviving wolf populations in South Korea, following the extinction of native wolves in the wild during the 1960s. As concerns for Neukgu's safety grew, animal rights advocates expressed fears that the wolf could face injuries or worse in the wild.
