Lovable says it added $100M in revenue last month alone, with just 146 employees

Lovable, the innovative Stockholm-based company, proudly announced that it achieved over $400 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR) as of February, although it remains tight-lipped about its goal of reaching $1 billion ARR by the end of this year. Instead, Lovable emphasizes its commitment to empowering creators to enhance their impact through its platform. As part of a burgeoning trend alongside companies like Cursor and Mercor, Lovable is revolutionizing the way websites and applications are built through a method known as vibe coding. Initially appealing to individuals and startups, the three-year-old firm is now aggressively targeting enterprise clients, including notable names such as Klarna and HubSpot. This week, Lovable launched its first brand campaign, "Earworm," across various social media platforms, YouTube, and connected TV. The campaign features a narrative about a woman unable to shake off a catchy song by the Swedish band Boko Yout until she utilizes Lovable to create a functional app. Interestingly, the band app showcased in the campaign was developed using Lovable itself, highlighting the platform's capabilities. "The aim of this campaign is to inspire aspiring builders—non-technical individuals with brilliant ideas that deserve real-world applications," stated a spokesperson. This inspirational message has undoubtedly contributed to Lovable attracting around 8 million users and achieving unicorn status within a year of its inception. Its growing success has led to a valuation of $6.6 billion, largely fueled by its ability to capture enterprise investment. At the Web Summit in November, co-founder and CEO Anton Osika revealed that over half of the Fortune 500 companies are leveraging Lovable to enhance their creativity. To further entice businesses, Lovable has introduced a range of specialized features, particularly those focused on security, aiming to transform its platform from a mere prototyping tool into an essential business resource. The company has consistently reported impressive ARR growth, reaching $100 million last July, $200 million in November, and $300 million by January. These figures indicate a robust acceleration in revenue, even amid the emergence of AI coding tools from major players like Anthropic and OpenAI. While competitors may emerge, Osika remains undeterred, supported by strong user engagement metrics. A significant spike in users was recorded during Lovable's SheBuilds initiative for International Women’s Day on March 8, when the platform was made free for a day, resulting in over 500,000 projects being created or updated, far exceeding the usual daily average of approximately 200,000. Remarkably, Lovable achieved this $400 million ARR milestone with just 146 full-time employees, as noted by Chief Revenue Officer Ryan Meadows. The company is now on a hiring spree, aiming to fill 70 open positions in its new Stockholm office, which accommodates up to 300 employees, along with roles in Boston, London, New York, San Francisco, and remote locations. Even with these additional hires, Lovable's revenue-to-employee ratio is anticipated to remain significantly above industry standards, already standing at an impressive $2.77 million in ARR per employee, surpassing the predicted benchmark of $2 million ARR per employee set by Gartner for emerging unicorns by 2030.
