LinkedIn has unveiled an innovative way for users to validate their AI skillset through official certifications. This new initiative, announced on Wednesday, stems from a partnership with various AI application platforms, allowing professionals to demonstrate their capabilities in 'vibe coding'. The platforms involved include Descript, a video and podcast editing tool, along with coding applications Lovable and Replit, and the AI agent development site Relay.app. These tools will utilize AI algorithms to evaluate user performance, generating certificates based on usage patterns, outcomes, and proficiency levels within these applications. While LinkedIn has yet to clarify the specific requirements for users to earn these certifications, successful candidates will see their qualifications displayed on their profiles, complementing their existing professional skills. Looking ahead, LinkedIn plans to expand this program by incorporating additional partners such as Gamma, GitHub, and Zapier, while also encouraging businesses to express interest in joining the verified skills initiative. Hari Sirinivasan, LinkedIn's VP of Product, highlighted the growing importance of AI proficiency in the job market. He stated, "Jobs require fluency in the technology your employer depends on and AI proficiency; the ability to use these tools to deliver today is now the most in-demand skill. Trust matters more than ever. More than 100 million professionals have verified their identity on LinkedIn. Now, with the addition of verified skills, you can add an additional way to prove what you can actually do." Recent studies underline the increasing relevance of AI in job postings, with a report from eDX indicating that the number of listings requiring AI skills has doubled in the past year. Similarly, Indeed’s Hiring Lab found that by the end of 2025, 4.2% of job advertisements in the U.S. included AI-related keywords, with the tech sector leading this trend, while banking and marketing sectors are also beginning to adopt similar practices.
