Former X CEO Linda Yaccarino takes helm at digital health company eMed

Linda Yaccarino, who previously led Elon Musk’s social media platform X, is making a significant shift towards the healthcare sector. On Tuesday, eMed Population Health announced her appointment as the new CEO, marking a strategic move for the digital health company. eMed is in the process of creating a population health management platform focused on the highly sought-after GLP-1 drugs, which are effective for weight loss and diabetes treatment. The company has successfully raised $22 million as of 2022, according to PitchBook. With a robust background in the advertising industry, Yaccarino previously managed NBCUniversal’s global advertising operations before her tenure at X. eMed aims to leverage her expertise to forge impactful partnerships and navigate the evolving healthcare market. "The healthcare industry has been disrupted by technology, but it hasn't yet been fully transformed," Yaccarino stated in a press release. She highlighted the potential to merge technology, lifestyle, and data in innovative ways that directly connect with consumers. As part of a burgeoning sector, eMed is positioned to tap into the increasing demand for GLP-1 medications. Analysts from Goldman Sachs predict that by 2030, around 15 million adults in the U.S. could be using anti-obesity treatments, potentially driving the industry’s annual revenue to $100 billion. Yaccarino stepped down from her CEO role at X in July, although she did not provide a specific reason for her departure. eMed described her as a "highly sought-after leader" with a proven track record in establishing new partnerships. "In today's healthcare marketplace, companies need a bold tenacity to grow and redefine the industry," Yaccarino remarked, emphasizing her commitment to driving change in the healthcare sector.
