Life360, the popular location tracking app, has unveiled a new feature aimed at improving family communication and reducing anxiety during the busy back-to-school period. The no-show notification allows users to be alerted when a friend or family member fails to arrive at a specified location by a predetermined time. This innovative feature is designed to alleviate the need for constant location checks, eliminating the frequent "where are you?" messages. According to Life360, the introduction of no-show alerts coincides with the time of year when parental concerns about children getting to school are heightened. To activate the no-show alert, users simply need to select the circle of the individual they wish to monitor, access their profile, and choose the “Set a No Show Alert” option. From there, they can designate a specific location and time, receiving a notification if the person does not arrive on time. Recurring alerts can also be set for specific days of the week, providing a grace period of a few minutes beyond the scheduled time before an alert is triggered. Mike Zeman, the Chief Marketing Officer at Life360, emphasized the significance of coordination for families, particularly during the hectic back-to-school season. He noted that new downloads of Life360 typically surge in the weeks leading up to the school year. "No Show Alerts were designed to give parents peace of mind and mitigate the need to constantly check in on their kids’ whereabouts," Zeman stated. While the feature is primarily targeted at parent-child interactions, it can be utilized by any family member with location sharing enabled. Life360 also allows users to disable location sharing whenever they choose. The no-show alert feature is rolling out to all U.S. members today, with plans for international availability in the near future.
