In the world of electric bikes, the initial test ride often reveals the same challenge: finding a frame that accommodates taller riders comfortably. At over six feet tall, I have frequently encountered this issue. However, my experience with the Lectric XPress 750 was unexpectedly different. Just a couple of blocks into my ride, I needed to make an adjustment to the seat height—an unusual necessity for a bike that is marketed as budget-friendly and available in a single frame size. The XPress 750, priced just under $1,000, stands out in the market for its impressive features and comfort, especially given its affordability. Despite being a lesser-known brand, Lectric claims that the XPress is the best-selling e-bike in the United States, largely due to its competitive pricing. With all models priced below $2,000, Lectric has found a way to cater to the needs of its users without sacrificing quality. The XPress model is designed as a standard hybrid bike, featuring both step-through and step-over frame options. I had the opportunity to test the step-over version. While it may not be a hard-tail mountain bike, it offers a robust design suitable for commuting and running errands, all while delivering a sportier feel compared to traditional commuter bikes. The bike is equipped with a suspension fork to enhance comfort on the ride, and it even includes a lock setting for riders who prefer a stiffer ride on smooth surfaces, preventing the fork from sagging when standing on the pedals. Overall, the Lectric XPress 750 combines affordability with a surprising level of comfort and utility, making it an attractive option for budget-conscious riders seeking a reliable e-bike.
