Lucid Motors is experiencing significant changes in its leadership team with the announcement that chief engineer Eric Bach is leaving the company after over ten years. Bach, who held the title of Senior Vice President of Product, has been a pivotal figure at Lucid since 2015. His background includes a tenure as Tesla’s Director of Engineering, where he collaborated with former Lucid CEO and CTO Peter Rawlinson. Before Tesla, Bach amassed more than a decade of experience at Volkswagen. In addition to Bach's departure, Jeri Ford, the Vice President of Quality, is also retiring. Marnie Levergood, who previously worked at Scout Motors, is set to take over her responsibilities. Meanwhile, Emad Dlala, the Senior Vice President of Powertrain, is being promoted to oversee all Engineering and Digital operations. Dlala has been with Lucid since 2015 and had already received a promotion earlier this year. These executive changes come during a turbulent period for Lucid Motors, which has been without a permanent CEO since Peter Rawlinson's abrupt resignation in February. Former Chief Operating Officer Marc Winterhoff has been filling the CEO role on an interim basis since then. The recent exits of Bach and Ford add to a growing list of high-profile departures, including those in investor relations, operations, and marketing, which have all occurred within the past year. This leadership shakeup occurs as Lucid Motors prepares to launch its much-anticipated luxury SUV, the Gravity, which the company hopes will outperform the Air sedan, a model that has faced sales challenges. Additionally, Lucid is developing a mid-sized vehicle planned for release in 2026, aimed at a price point around $50,000, although securing additional funding will be necessary to achieve this goal.
