In a surprising turn of events, Kristin Cabot, the Chief People Officer at Astronomer, has stepped down just days after CEO Andy Byron's resignation. This shakeup follows an incident at a Coldplay concert in Boston, where the two were captured on the venue's 'kiss cam' in a moment that quickly garnered public attention. A company spokesperson confirmed Cabot's departure in a statement to CNBC, stating, "Kristin Cabot is no longer with Astronomer; she has resigned." The viral video from the concert, which showed Cabot and Byron, who is married and has children, hiding from the camera, sparked speculation about their relationship. Lead singer Chris Martin humorously commented, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.” Following these events, both Cabot and Byron have been removed from the leadership section of the company’s website. Pete DeJoy, who is now serving as Astronomer's interim CEO, noted in a recent post that the unexpected media attention has made the company a "household name." Earlier this year, Astronomer, which focuses on commercializing open source software, successfully secured a $93 million funding round led by Bain Ventures along with other notable investors, including Salesforce Ventures.
