AI to enhance capabilities, not replace human endeavours: Larry Ellison

In a recent address at Oracle AI World, Larry Ellison, co-founder of Oracle, praised Artificial Intelligence as a powerful tool designed to augment human capabilities rather than replace them. He described AI models as 'remarkable electronic brains' that have the potential to tackle some of humanity's most pressing challenges. Ellison emphasized that AI is set to empower professionals across various fields, from scientists and surgeons to engineers and educators, enabling them to achieve greater precision, creativity, and efficiency in their work. "AI is an incredible tool. Some people think it is going to replace human beings and all of our human endeavors. I don't think that's true," he asserted, reflecting on the transformative potential of AI. The tech mogul, who recently briefly surpassed Elon Musk as the world's richest individual due to a surge in Oracle's stock, believes that AI will facilitate solutions to problems that have previously eluded us. He remarked, "It will make us much better scientists and engineers and teachers and chefs and surgeons... We've never built a tool anything like this." Oracle's CEO, Mike Sicilia, echoed this sentiment, stating that AI has evolved beyond being just a technological update; it has become a revolutionary force reshaping the landscape of global business. He called this moment a 'once-in-a-generation' opportunity where AI is poised to alter the very fabric of how organizations operate. During the event, Oracle announced a significant partnership with AMD, revealing plans to launch the first publicly available AI supercluster, set to be powered by 50,000 AMD MI450 Series chips starting in the third quarter of 2026. Sicilia pointed out that this advancement is crucial as AI is redefining everything from customer service and recruitment to cost-saving measures and productivity enhancements. "Today, we are faced with a once-in-a-generation moment where AI changes everything, and all of our innovations along the way serve as the foundation for our AI platform going forward," Sicilia stated, highlighting the central role of AI in business transformation. Additionally, Oracle introduced the Oracle AI Data Platform, designed to help clients securely integrate generative AI models with their enterprise data and workflows. They also announced the OCI Zettascale10, touted as the largest AI supercomputer in the cloud, capable of connecting hundreds of thousands of NVIDIA GPUs to deliver unprecedented performance.
