The upcoming DC Universe series 'Lanterns' is generating considerable buzz after its latest teaser, which was released in March. This unexpected direction has successfully captured my attention, moving 'Lanterns' onto my must-watch list for 2026. However, it seems HBO may have wanted to reassure fans of the superhero genre, as the most recent teaser cleverly combines the series' grittier elements with a stronger emphasis on superpowers and cosmic adventures. According to the official synopsis, the series centers on John Stewart (played by Aaron Pierre), a new recruit, and Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler), a seasoned Lantern, as they navigate a dark mystery linked to a murder in the American Midwest. The narrative is set to unfold across two timelines: one in 2016 revolving around a murder in Nebraska and another set in 2026. Chandler's character, Hal Jordan, is depicted as a veteran test pilot on the brink of retirement from the Green Lantern Corps, mentoring John Stewart Jr. as he prepares to take over his responsibilities.
