Kimbal Musk, the brother of billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, has made a striking claim during a recent appearance on CNBC's "Squawk Box." According to Kimbal, Elon has not received a salary from Tesla for the past six to eight years, asserting that his brother 'deserves to be paid' for his contributions. "I think my brother deserves to be paid. He has zero pay for the past six to eight years. I don’t think that’s right," Kimbal stated. He acknowledged that ultimately, the decision lies with Tesla's shareholders but stressed the importance of fair compensation for Elon. In a related move, Tesla recently approved an interim compensation package for Elon Musk, granting him 96 million shares valued at approximately $29 billion. This package is contingent on Elon continuing as CEO for an additional two years. The decision was made by a special committee of the Tesla board, with both Elon and Kimbal recusing themselves from the process. This new pay structure comes after a Delaware court annulled Elon’s previous $56 billion compensation plan from 2018, necessitating a redesign of his remuneration. Last year, Elon expressed a desire for greater control over Tesla, indicating that without approximately 25% voting power, he would rather focus on developing products outside of the company. Elon has indeed ventured beyond Tesla, launching his AI startup xAI, which features the Grok AI chatbot. He has also integrated this venture with his social media platform, X. Recently, he shared plans for another startup named "Macrohard," aimed at replicating Microsoft’s offerings through AI technology. While details are scarce, Musk hinted at the potential of fully simulating software companies with AI, stating, "In principle, given that software companies like Microsoft do not themselves manufacture any physical hardware, it should be possible to simulate them entirely with AI."
