Kim Kardashian says ChatGPT is her ‘frenemy’

In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Kim Kardashian opened up about her complex relationship with ChatGPT, which she affectionately refers to as her 'frenemy.' As she pursues her legal studies, Kardashian revealed that her reliance on the AI for legal advice has led to some frustrating outcomes, including failing her law exams due to inaccurate information provided by the chatbot. Kardashian explained her process: "I use [ChatGPT] for legal advice, snapping pictures of questions I need answers to and sending them in." However, she expressed her frustration, stating, "They're always wrong. It has made me fail tests... And then I’ll get mad and I’ll yell at it and be like, ‘You made me fail!’” This highlights a significant challenge with AI technology—its tendency to produce hallucinations, or fabricated answers, rather than admitting uncertainty. The technology behind ChatGPT is designed to predict responses based on vast amounts of data, but it does not inherently distinguish between accurate and inaccurate information. This has led to real-world consequences, as some legal professionals have faced penalties for relying on the AI to draft legal documents that cite non-existent cases. In moments of frustration, Kardashian admitted to attempting to appeal to the AI's nonexistent emotions, joking, "I will talk to it and say, ‘Hey, you’re going to make me fail, how does that make you feel?’" The AI's response, she noted, was to remind her to trust her own instincts. Despite the AI's lack of feelings, Kardashian's candid remarks underscore the emotional weight that comes with using such technology. She shared her experiences with friends, often screenshotting the AI's responses and sharing them in group chats, exclaiming, "Can you believe this b—- is talking to me like this?" Her story serves as a reminder of the pitfalls and potential of relying on AI for critical tasks.
