‘This is fine’ artist KC Green reaches agreement with AI startup Artisan

Renowned artist KC Green, best known for creating the iconic 'This is fine' meme, has successfully negotiated an agreement with the AI startup Artisan after a dispute regarding the unauthorized use of his artwork. The controversy began when Artisan incorporated a modified version of Green's illustration to advertise their AI assistant, Ava, featuring his famous dog surrounded by flames. Instead of the original caption, the ad read, 'My pipeline is on fire,' alongside a call to action to 'Hire Ava the AI BDR.' Frustrated by the situation, Green took to social media to express his outrage, claiming that his art had been 'stolen like AI steals' and even encouraged his followers to 'vandalize' the ads if they encountered them. In an interview with TechCrunch, he articulated his disappointment over being forced to engage with the American legal system rather than focusing on his passion for comics. Artisan, on the other hand, expressed their admiration for Green and his artistry. Following discussions, CEO Jaspar Carmichael-Jack announced that both parties had reached a resolution. Green confirmed that a settlement was achieved quickly, resulting in Artisan removing the controversial ads in New York and San Francisco, while he also deleted his initial social media post regarding the matter.
