At the 49th Annual General Meeting of Reliance Industries, Jio Chairman Akash Ambani outlined an ambitious roadmap for the company's future, emphasizing five key commitments that will drive Jio's next stage of expansion. These commitments are focused on enhancing digital capabilities in India through advancements in 5G, broadband, artificial intelligence, and global outreach. Ambani emphasized that Jio's journey over the past decade has set the stage for this new phase. "The next chapter of Jio's growth will be powered by five commitments," he stated, highlighting the importance of each pillar. The first commitment is the establishment of Jio True 5G as the cornerstone of India's digital infrastructure. Ambani announced plans to transition all subscribers to 5G by 2030, while positioning India at the forefront of 6G technology standards. With over 268 million 5G users, Jio has become the largest single-country 5G network outside of China, adding 77 million subscribers in the fiscal year 2026 alone. Broadening high-speed broadband access is the second pillar, as Jio aims to bring high-speed home connectivity to every corner of India. The success of Jio AirFiber, which has connected over 13 million homes, underscores this initiative. The third commitment focuses on digitizing Indian enterprises and small businesses. Jio plans to enhance its engagement with the enterprise sector, equipping businesses with the necessary digital tools to boost efficiency and growth. Artificial intelligence is the fourth pillar of Jio's strategic vision. Ambani reiterated the company's goal of making AI accessible across its platforms, aligning with Reliance Chairman Mukesh Ambani's vision of establishing India as a leader in AI technology. This commitment aims to provide smarter, more personalized experiences to users. Finally, the fifth commitment aims to take India's technological innovations to the global stage. Ambani stressed the importance of expanding Jio's technological footprint beyond India, showcasing Jio's proprietary innovations to strengthen its international presence. In addition to these commitments, Akash Ambani revealed that Jio's subscriber base has surpassed 524 million, solidifying its status as the largest telecom operator in India. Jio is also exploring the development of a sovereign low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite constellation to enhance connectivity, partnering with leading satellite providers to accelerate service rollout. As Jio embarks on its second decade, the company is poised to leverage 5G, AI, broadband, enterprise digitization, and satellite connectivity as key drivers of its future growth.
