Jio down: Massive outage hits mobile and fibre services in Kerala

A significant service disruption struck Reliance Jio customers across Kerala on Monday, affecting mobile internet, voice calls, and JioFiber connectivity. Outage tracking platform Downdetector.com reported that the peak of the outage occurred around 2:25 PM, with over 11,500 users filing complaints. The bulk of the issues, approximately 57 percent, were related to mobile data connectivity, while 32 percent of users reported problems with mobile signal strength. Additionally, around 11 percent experienced interruptions in JioFiber broadband services. To date, Reliance Jio has remained silent on the specifics behind the outage and has not provided an estimated timeline for restoring services. The widespread disruption has led to a flurry of reactions on social media, with many users voicing their frustration over the unexpected loss of connectivity and the absence of updates. This incident is not isolated, as the company has faced previous criticism for similar service failures. Amid the complaints, a humorous meme emerged, portraying Airtel users as royalty and depicting Vi users as generals, while Jio customers were illustrated bowing down in jest, reflecting the shifting dynamics during the outage. In a separate development, on June 11, Jio Financial Services announced that its joint venture, Jio BlackRock Investment Advisers, received regulatory approval from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) to operate as an investment adviser, marking a significant milestone for the company.
