Jared Leto is the ultimate solder in newTRON: Arestrailer

As San Diego Comic-Con approaches, excitement builds with Disney unveiling a new trailer for the highly anticipated film, TRON: Ares, directed by Joachim Rønning. This new installment revisits the digital universe first introduced in the original TRON films, following the events of TRON: Legacy. In TRON: Legacy, Sam Flynn, played by Garrett Hedlund, successfully thwarted the plans of Clu, a sinister program intent on merging the digital realm with reality. Alongside him was Quorra, portrayed by Olivia Wilde, a unique algorithm that Clu sought to eliminate. Disney initially announced a third movie in the franchise back in October 2010, aiming to continue the story of Sam and Quorra as they navigated the challenges of running ENCOM after Kevin Flynn, played by Jeff Bridges, stepped down. However, the project faced setbacks, including its cancellation in 2015 due to the poor box office results of Tomorrowland. After a period of dormancy, the film was revived in 2020, although it has since transformed into a standalone reboot rather than a direct sequel to Legacy. Interesting enough, the character of Ares has roots in earlier drafts of the script. Now, after a series of delays influenced by the pandemic and industry strikes, TRON: Ares is finally set to debut in theaters this fall. The film's premise is intriguing: it follows Ares, a highly advanced program, as he ventures from the digital world into reality on a perilous mission, marking humanity's first encounter with artificial intelligence. Jared Leto takes center stage as Ares, joined by an impressive cast that includes Evan Peters as Julian Dillinger and Greta Lee as Eve Kim. The ensemble also features Jodie Turner-Smith, Cameron Monaghan, Sarah Desjardins, Hasan Minhaj, Arturo Castro, and the return of Jeff Bridges as Kevin Flynn. Adding to the film's atmosphere, the soundtrack is composed by the iconic band Nine Inch Nails.
