Jack Dorsey, the co-founder of Twitter, has introduced an innovative messaging application named Bitchat, designed to function without the need for internet connectivity, mobile data, or even Wi-Fi. This app utilizes Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) mesh networks, creating a decentralized platform that champions censorship resistance. Currently, Bitchat is exclusively available for iPhone users through Apple’s TestFlight program, where it quickly reached its limit of 10,000 beta testers shortly after launch. Dorsey has also made the app’s whitepaper and invite public, sparking significant interest in the realm of privacy technology. In stark contrast to conventional messaging platforms like WhatsApp and Telegram, Bitchat eliminates the need for phone numbers or email registrations.
