Identity management has evolved significantly, yet many organizations still rely on outdated physical badges and legacy systems. In response to the increasing complexity of digital environments where humans collaborate with AI, Israeli startup Oak is stepping into the spotlight after securing $60 million in seed funding to enhance identity management. Founded by seasoned entrepreneur Shai Morag, Oak has developed a comprehensive control framework designed to streamline identity governance across organizations. The startup's product is now available to enterprise clients, addressing the shortcomings of existing identity access management (IAM) systems, which have become vulnerable due to the rise of AI technology. Morag, who has an extensive background in cybersecurity, emphasized that traditional IAM solutions often fall short, particularly in real-time risk assessment. "Current processes are overly manual and focused on operations rather than risk," he explained. Oak's innovative approach includes an AI connector framework that continuously adapts permissions based on actual application usage, ensuring outdated access rights are revoked promptly. To refine its product, Oak engaged with over 100 Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) and IAM leaders, gathering insights that guided the development of their solution. The team, which has grown to 50 members, plans to expand further, particularly in the United States, where most of its workforce will soon be located. The recent funding round was co-led by prominent venture capital firms including Accel, CRV, and Greylock Partners, with additional support from AlphaDrive Ventures and Hetz Ventures. Accel partner Andrei Brasoveanu highlighted Morag's impressive track record as a key factor in securing investor interest. With past successes, including the sale of his cyber startup Secdo, Morag is determined to make Oak a leader in the identity management space. As the demand for effective identity management solutions grows, Oak is prepared to scale rapidly and meet the challenges posed by competitors in this evolving landscape. Morag's commitment to the venture is unwavering; he has expressed that he will invest every effort into making Oak a significant player in the industry before considering retirement.
