iPhone Air 2 could fix two of the biggest issues with iPhone Air

Apple is reportedly gearing up to enhance the iPhone Air 2 by addressing some of the primary user grievances regarding its battery life and camera capabilities. Following the mixed reception of the original iPhone Air, which debuted alongside the iPhone 17 series, users praised its sleek design but expressed disappointment over its single-camera setup and modest battery capacity. In response to this feedback, Apple appears to be taking significant steps to improve the next iteration of the iPhone Air. According to a report from South Korea’s The Elec, the upcoming model will feature a new CoE display technology, which is set to make its debut with the iPhone Fold later this year. This innovative technology is designed to reduce display thickness while enhancing power efficiency and visibility in bright sunlight. Moreover, this reduction in display size could potentially allow for a larger battery, which would tackle one of the main criticisms of the initial model. In addition to display enhancements, prior reports from The Information have suggested that Apple is contemplating the addition of a dual-camera system for the iPhone Air 2, although specifics about the type of lens—whether it will feature an ultra-wide or telephoto option—remain undisclosed. The iPhone Air 2 is expected to launch alongside the 20th-anniversary iPhone in 2027. Initial sales of the original model were sluggish, mirroring trends seen with Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge. While there have been speculations regarding a 2026 release, sources indicate that Apple may delay the iPhone Air 2 launch until the following year. Notably, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has highlighted that Apple has never committed to annual launches for the iPhone Air series. In terms of performance, the iPhone Air 2 is anticipated to incorporate a 2-nanometer chipset aimed at enhancing battery performance. The integration of an ultra-wide lens is also considered feasible, potentially broadening the device's photographic capabilities.
