Waiting for the iPhone 18? You’ll have to wait longer as Apple may not launch it this year

Apple's highly anticipated September event, a highlight in the tech calendar, is generating buzz for an unexpected reason. The iPhone 18 series, which was slated for release in 2026, may not see its standard model launch this year as anticipated. Instead, reports indicate that Apple is considering a delayed introduction in the spring of 2027. According to insights shared by supply chain partners involved in iPhone component manufacturing, the standard iPhone 18 is likely to miss the traditional fall launch window. This means that during the September event, we might only witness the unveiling of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Additionally, rumors suggest that Apple could introduce its first foldable iPhone around the same timeframe. The chairman of Largan Precision, a significant supplier for Apple, hinted at a major U.S. brand postponing a product launch to the first quarter of 2027 during a recent shareholders' meeting. Although he did not specify the brand, Largan's role in supplying camera lenses for Apple raises eyebrows about the implications for the iPhone 18 launch. Earlier reports indicated that Apple was considering a staggered launch strategy, which would see the iPhone 18 Pro models and the iPhone Fold debut in September 2026. In contrast, the standard iPhone 18, along with models like the iPhone 18e and the expected iPhone Air 2, would be introduced in March 2027. This strategy aims to enhance manufacturing efficiency and sustain sales throughout the year as the product lineup expands to six models. As for the iPhone 18, details remain sparse, but it is expected to feature a similar design to the iPhone 17, with a 6.3-inch display and a dual camera setup. However, users can look forward to improved performance with the introduction of the A20 chip and an upgrade to 12GB of RAM.
