Apple tipped to bring major display upgrades to iPhone 17 series in September

As anticipation builds for the iPhone 17 series launch in just two months, rumors are swirling about the exciting new features Apple has in store for its flagship models. Recent reports indicate that two major enhancements are on the way for the displays of the upcoming iPhones, promising to elevate them beyond their predecessors. Insider information from tipster Digital Chat Station (DCS) has revealed that Apple plans to introduce significantly thinner bezels across the iPhone 17 lineup. Last year's models, the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max, were hailed for their sleek bezels, and now, Apple is set to extend this design to the iPhone 17 and the anticipated iPhone 17 Air. Furthermore, there are whispers that Apple may eliminate the Plus variant this year, focusing instead on the new lightweight iPhone 17 Air. In addition to the refined bezels, the iPhone 17 series is expected to feature an upgraded Dynamic Island interface. While specific details are scarce, speculation from MacRumors suggests that Apple may incorporate software enhancements in conjunction with iOS 26. There’s also chatter about a potential reduction in the size of the Dynamic Island cutout, although it remains to be seen whether this hardware refinement can be achieved before the September unveiling. Previous leaks hinted that the iPhone 17 could undergo its most significant display transformation in years. The base model may see an increase in display size from 6.1 inches in the iPhone 16 to 6.3 inches in the iPhone 17. Additionally, improvements in refresh rates are anticipated, with the base model likely transitioning from 60Hz to 90Hz, while the Pro models will retain their 120Hz displays. Moreover, the iPhone 17 Pro variants are rumored to finally feature an anti-reflective coating akin to that of the Galaxy S24 Ultra and the forthcoming Galaxy S25 Ultra, marking a notable advancement in display technology for Apple. Stay tuned for more updates as the launch date approaches.
