Apple is gearing up for the launch of its highly anticipated iPhone 17 series, set to make its debut next month, featuring the latest iOS 26 operating system. The tech giant from Cupertino is expected to introduce four new models: the standard iPhone 17, the iPhone 17 Pro, the iPhone 17 Pro Max, and the newly designed iPhone 17 Air, which boasts a thinner and lighter profile. While the exact launch date remains under wraps, industry insiders speculate that Apple will adhere to its customary September timeline for unveiling these devices. Excitement is building as rumors swirl about the new features and potential pricing of the upcoming models. However, the pricing landscape has become murky due to recent geopolitical developments, notably President Donald Trump’s implementation of "reciprocal tariffs" affecting major manufacturing countries such as India and China. Reports indicate that this could lead to increased prices for the iPhone 17 series compared to its predecessor. Analyst Jeff Pu from GF Securities has suggested that tariffs imposed on imports from China may drive costs higher. In a recent statement, Apple CEO Tim Cook noted a significant investment of $100 billion in the US, aimed at reshoring parts of Apple’s supply chain. This investment may afford Apple some relief from the new tariff framework. According to The Wall Street Journal, the US is set to impose a 20% tariff on iPhones brought in from China, while those imported from India will remain tariff-free. Interestingly, Cook highlighted that a substantial portion of iPhones sold in the US between April and June were manufactured in India, a country that has rapidly evolved into a crucial player in Apple's supply chain, now accounting for 14% of its flagship iPhone production. Recent leaks suggest a potential price increase of approximately $50 for the iPhone 17 series. If these estimates hold true, the base model could start at around $849 in the US (approximately ₹89,900 in India). The iPhone 17 Air might retail for around $949 (approximately ₹99,900), while the iPhone 17 Pro could be priced at $1,199 (around ₹1,45,900). The premium iPhone 17 Pro Max may reach a price point of $1,249 (approximately ₹1,64,900). The tech community is eagerly awaiting the official announcements to see how these factors will shape the market.
