These four iPhone models may not get Apple’s iOS 27 update

Anticipation builds as Apple gears up to unveil its next-generation software, iOS 27, during the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2026 on June 8. On this date, the tech giant is also expected to release a beta version of the update, with a full rollout planned for the fall. However, not all iPhone users will be able to access the new features. Reports indicate that several older iPhone models currently operating on iOS 26 may not be eligible for the upcoming iOS 27 update. This decision aligns with Apple's historical pattern of phasing out support for certain devices. Specifically, the models that might miss out on the iOS 27 compatibility list include the iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11, and the iPhone SE (2nd generation). In terms of compatibility, it appears that iOS 27 will primarily support iPhone 12 and newer models. Additionally, the iPhone SE (3rd generation) and subsequent versions are also expected to qualify for the update. This marks a continuation of Apple's trend of discontinuing support for older devices, as seen last year when the iPhone XS models were also left out of the iOS updates. While devices running iOS 26 will continue to receive crucial security patches and bug fixes, they will not benefit from the new features, design updates, or advanced AI functionalities that iOS 27 is set to introduce. Notably, newer models such as the iPhone 15 Pro are likely to be the focus of Apple's latest innovations. Therefore, users of the iPhone 11 series may need to consider upgrading to a more recent model to fully experience the exciting features expected to be revealed at WWDC 2026.
